Recover our great Christian musical heritage!
Our affections are shaped and molded by the music we sing and hear.
Currently, the happy clappy Evangelical church is limited to a very small range of musical expression, and if our music does not train us to vigorously celebrate or to bitterly lament, how will we and our children be prepared when great victories or great tragedies confront us.
Will we have the right words come to our minds?
This piano accompaniment edition of the 2020 Cantus Christi includes some familar classics (A Mighty Fortress; And Can It Be; Holy, Holy, Holy; When I Survey the Wondrous Cross; etc.) and some memorable but sadly unknown compositions (St. Patrick's Breastplate; The Son of God Goes Forth to War) and over a hundred and twenty Psalms. "Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints."
This accompaniment edition is spiral bound and printed on 8.5 x11 paper and is designed specifically for worship.

I love it! Why? Because I can see the music better when playing. Going to a CREC church in Montana the church people sing the songs with gusto, especially my grandson, who is 7 and now sings the songs to his baby brother. Our grandson has his grandpa and grandma singing the songs around the house and teaching the songs in our own church in Phoenix.
Truly, the best hymnal I've found that is in print today. Very thankful for your great work!
Book One (of Two) has 300 versions of the Psalms - all of them. That alone is worth the price paid.
The extensive indices include:
- Index of Music Genres
- Index of Music Sources
- Index of Tunes
- Index of Fuging Tunes
- Index of Meters
- Index of First Lines (and Titles where different)
744 songs in all, with some being broken into parts a, b, & c.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16
How do we do that? Cantus Christi 2020 is a substantial step in that direction. This work is kingdom building, with blessings extending into coming generations.
When you see 100+ whole families, from wee ones to great grandparents, singing these songs together in the Sunday gathering or 3 families around a fellowship meal, it changes you. It changes the world. Get some form of this hymnal into your home and into your church.
Warning: regular use of this hymnal with a well tuned musical instrument may produce perfect pitch and eventually a gift for poetry in your small children. Don't be shocked or discouraged if they like singing these more than you, especially if all this is kind of new to you parents.
Minor Gripe: Because of high demand, hymnals are in short supply. On our recent visit to Moscow, I picked up a shrink-wrapped hymnal and packed it in my bag. When I got home to unwrap it, there was a deep gash in the bottom of the book that messed up pages 760 to the end. Printing error or overzealous TSA agent? We may never know. "Weapons of our warfare" comes to mind. Maybe the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch was hidden in there. But this piano version you shipped is perfect!
She loves it! So much easier to keep open when playing the piano.
