First, the bad news: Canon Press usually does not respond to unsolicited manuscripts whether for fiction or nonfiction. However, if you have a book that you think would be a good fit for our audience, you may email us a book pitch. A good book pitch normally consists of the following:

  • A one-to three-sentence vivid and compelling summary of your book's thesis and general gist as well as your unique approach to the topic.
  • A short description of what your book offers for Canon Press's specific goals and evangelical Christian perspective.
  • Two or three sample chapters, an estimated table of contents, and a proposed finished-manuscript word count. Fiction proposals may also include a brief plot treatment along with the sample chapters.
  • A short autobiographical description of yourself and any unique opportunities for promoting a book that you might possess.

Email your book pitch to submissions@canonpress.com. We will follow up if we require more information. If you haven’t heard back from us in six weeks, you can assume your pitch was declined by our acquisitions department. Thank you for considering Canon Press!
