The way of following Christ is difficult, but it is not complicated. Pull out a hammer and let's go.

Look Inside the Book

Basic Christian Living is a survey course covering the fundamentals of the Christian life. The book's topics can be divided into three broad categories: basic doctrine for new believers (confession of sin, the nature of worship, assurance of salvation, and more), basic wisdom for living in community (relationships, conversation, the meaning of masculinity and femininity, etc.), and cultural criticism for beginners (authenticity, the "cool," and competition and ambition, for starters).

Each bite-size chapter contains a worksheet of questions from relevant portions of the Bible, along with a full answer key. Whether you're a teacher wanting to offer a practical class on Christianity for students, a pastor needing a text for new believers, or a mature Christian reviewing the big picture, Basic Christian Living is a helpful, important, and encouraging introduction to the foundations of the gospel.

From the Book:

"God offers sinful human beings deep forgiveness. The Lord Jesus did not come, live a perfect life, die on the cross, and come back from the dead in order to dab around the edges of our wound. Our complicity in the sin of Adam, and our continuing screwed-up-ness required a great remedy, which could not be had apart from the work of a great Savior." -From the book

Amazing Review of Christian Life

As I have continued to work through Basic Christian Living, I find myself being reminded of foundational Biblical truths that can easily be forgotten or downgraded during the business of life. I would recommend this book to any Christian - regardless of the time he has served Christ. Whether a new believer or old soldier, Basic Christian Living is a great resource.

Solid Christianity for a generation of the Church that desperately needs it.

I have been a Christian for almost 30 years, and there have been bits of this book that have challenged me. With his characteristic bluntness, Wilson gets to the heart of the matter, and asks pointed questions. If you are honest with yourself, there will be questions that make you uncomfortable, and should demand things of you that you would not have done otherwise.

I am using this book as a sort of outline in a mentoring relationship, and it's provided a great skeleton on which we can hang our discussions. Would be great for a new members class, too.

We've just started, but love it. I've listened to Pastor Wilson's preaching for 15+ years, so when I'm reading this and working through the questions with my son, I can hear him speaking! Clear, concise, biblical theology at it's best, for a young man.
