Creation in Six Days: A Defense of the Traditional Reading of Genesis 1

$17.00

James Jordan

Commentators offer a lot of strange opinions on the events of Genesis 1. Jordan shows how the straightforward reading is the only tenable one.

Look Inside the Book

Creation in Six Days offers an exegetical, literary, and theological defense of the traditional interpretation of the Genesis account of six-day creation. Jordan offers a constructive reading of the early parts of Genesis and shows that people are attracted to the Framework Interpretation and similar views, not because of reasonable exegesis, but because of a faith in modern science. Jordan's account is primarily designed to answer several prominent critiques of the text of Genesis, such as the increasingly popular Framework Hypothesis, that pits the text's literary features against its historical and narrative sense.

What People Are Saying:

"This new book by James Jordan addresses with precision, charity, and biblical fidelity the strange and confusing situation amongst evangelical, Reformed scholars on the doctrine of creation." -Douglas Kelly, Reformed Theological Seminary

"Jordan defends the traditional reading of the creation account with a command of biblical theology rarely encountered. But Jordan does more. He precisely and convincingly identifies exegetical errors in opposing positions. Moreover, he reveals the subtle influences of gnosticism and false assumptions of science which are behind modern interpretations. This is an outstanding contribution." -Rev. James Bordwine, Th.D

"This new book by James Jordan addresses with precision, charity, and biblical fidelity the strange and confusing situation amongst evangelical, Reformed scholars on the doctrine of creation. Jordan’s critique of some of the popular endeavors to make Genesis teach something other than six-day creation is careful and fair, bringing order out of confusion." -Dr. Douglas Kelly, Reformed Theological Seminary

"One need not agree with every statement to find many exegetical and theological insights that will add significantly to the growing arsenal of solid studies in Genesis one." -Dr. John Whitcomb, Whitcomb Ministries
