Currently, the happy clappy Evangelical church is limited to a very small range of musical expression, and if our music does not train us to vigorously celebrate or to bitterly lament, how will we and our children be prepared when great victories or great tragedies confront us.

This hymnal includes some familiar classics (A Mighty Fortress; And Can It Be; Holy, Holy, Holy; When I Survey the Wondrous Cross; etc.) and some memorable but sadly unknown compositions (St. Patrick's Breastplate; The Son of God Goes Forth to War) and over a hundred and twenty Psalms. "Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints."
Cantus 2020 new songs:
Complete Psalter with triple the settings: Cantus 2020 contains at least one complete metrical setting of every Psalm (increased from 114 to 300)
More than double the number of Hymns (increased from 189 to 402, yes now it includes Amazing Grace!)
More Service Music (increased from 28 to 42)
More fuguing tunes (increased from 6 to 26)
Removed all chants, decreased the bulk of the Genevan Psalms by half, and added all 50 through-composed Erb Psalms.
Cantus 2020 new features:
Page count doubled: 478 to 830 pages. The price did not double: $23.00 list price
Easy-clean gray Kivar cover stock
Weight increase: 2.3lbs to 2.7lbs (width increase: 1.5” to 1.75”)
All-new formatting with high-visibility page numbers and text
Introductions by Douglas Wilson, Ben Zornes, and Michael E. Owens

So many great features to this hymnal, not found in others, like the chronological and genre catalog of the hymns and tunes, a philosophy and exhortation of worship, all the favorite hymns plus new psalms to learn. Great purchase. Love the color too.

A treasure to last the ages
We purchased three Cantus Christi’s for our daughters for Christmas. They were all so excited to open theirs! Our prayer is that they grow up pouring over the pages and learning every song within and they then share the songs with their husbands and children. The Cantus has a wonderful selection of psalms and hymns in it and we love using it for family worship and in our homeschool.

As noted, bought this for my wife. (Got the No Quarter November hat for myself.) A well constructed hymnal, and my wife really likes the hymns, especially the theological content of the lyrics. A good addition to her mostly Baptist collection of hymnals.

An excellent collection of songs worth singing
What a delight to see all of this great musical treasure I’ve been ignorant of for most of my life! I’ve only just started going through the music, but it has been encouraging and fun to see how saints from the past (and present) have been flexing their creative muscle to help us find the right tunes and lyrics to praise our great God. And a Psalter! What better way to “store up Thy word in my heart”?

I really wanted to learn how to sing the psalms. I go to a Baptist Church. We sing some of these hymns but we never sing psalms so I wanted to learn how to do it with the help of this book and the videos online it's very helpful for learning.

One of the greatest treasures I own
This Psalter and Hymnal is amazing. I love how it has all the psalms as well as the other categories of hymns. I sometimes feel as though I could conquer all the world and the great powers of hell when singing some of the psalms and battle hymns, and I feel as though I have reached greater depths of adoration and faith.
