In this book Douglas Wilson shows that Protestant chaos and Roman Catholicism are not the only two alternatives.

Look Inside the Book

Papa Don't Pope evaluates some of the most important issues between Roman Catholics and Protestants, including personal interpretation, apostolic succession, sola Scriptura, and so on. So this little book should be a huge help for anyone (Catholic or Protestant) with honest questions, as well as for anyone looking to interact with the original Protestant vision.

But what's the point in stirring up differences between Geneva and Rome? Don't we have enough division over church and theology already? The truth is, we don't have nearly enough clear disagreement—because clear disagreement is a necessary step on the way to agreement. So you could say this book has a catholic purpose (even if the future is clearly Protestant).

The classical Protestant expression is Soli Deo Gloria. Roman Catholics might prefer Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam. May God hasten the day when we can say 'amen' to both."

What People Are Saying:

"Informative and occasionally sharp musings on Roman Catholic theology and practice." -Caleb Nelson, World Magazine

Fantastic!

Recently I had an old friend of mine tell me that he’s leaning more catholic. Not really knowing what to say in response, I asked him questions regarding this decision. We had a very civil debate about things like confession, communion and even talked about some of the catholic stereotypes. I listened to this audio book and it greatly helped me understand where my friend was coming from, and more importantly, why he is dead wrong on some really key points of the faith.

I love my christian brother dearly, which is why I bought him this book for Christmas.

Good to share

I loaned it to a friend after reading it who's son and daughter in law have reinforced their "spirituality" with the pomp and beauty of icons and beautiful buildings and clamshell hats. We both liked the question in the book; "WHO says?" That was great. I feel we need to be careful with this topic because wheat could easily be pulled up trying to get rid of the tares.
