"If I were to calculate the impact that various writers have had on me—and there have been many who have—C.S. Lewis would always come in first, and by a large margin." ~ Douglas Wilson

Look Inside the Book or Listen on Canon+

In this collection of essays, Douglas Wilson talks about one of the most beloved Christian writers of the twentieth-century: C.S. Lewis. Lewis was the kind of writer who, whether you agree with him or not, will edify and sharpen you. Douglas Wilson discusses everything from Lewis's odd images of salvation in The Last Battle to Lewis's view of creation to his take on heaven, hell, and education.

Owen Barfield once said that what Lewis thought about everything came out in what he said about anything. Lewis's writing is powerful because he understood that everything in the universe proclaimed God's glory and thus shines with the personality of God, He Who is the "light from behind the sun."

Splendid collection of essays

I wasn't sure what to expect, but considering the frequency and care with which Pastor Wilson references CS Lewis, I figured it was worth a roll of the dice. The "reformed" in the title isn't frivolous. By examining Lewis' works through a distinctly reformed lens, the beauty and precision of his work comes through all the more clearly. If you appreciate CS Lewis and a good sharp quill, you can't go wrong here. I read it through in a day and was left wishing for more.

Good cover art, to boot!

I’m a third of the way into the book, and have really enjoyed it thus far. I believe my introduction to Mr. Wilson was via a lecture he gave at a C.S Lewis conference several years back. His commentary on Lewis’ writings and worldview is something that I’ve found I hold much of the same persuasion on. It’s also worth mentioning that I’ve undergone a great deal of growing up since I met Doug and coming back to his writings from time to time has played no small part in that process. Thank you, Canon Press! Love what y’all are doing :)

Extremely helpful

My conversion experience was heavily centered around reading Lewis' "The Weight of Glory," which proceeded my affiliation with Reformed thinking. I had since been struggle to rectify the two in the places where Lewis and the Reformers seem to conflict, and this book was exactly what I needed.
