Have you ever felt your marriage get cluttered up with sins and cumulative wrongs? Do you wish that you could deal with it, but don't know where to begin?

Douglas Wilson loves to point out that the way you fix these sorts of sin pile-ups is the same way you declutter a garage: Begin with the first layer, work to the bottom, and then keep it clean. That's because the key to a good marriage is honest, complete, and humble confession of sin. This short little book, coming from a pastor with forty years of experience, offers concrete practical suggestions about how to confess sin properly and how to avoid other snares that married people tend to get snagged on, usually depending on whether they're the man or the woman.

Decluttering Your Marriage will give you much gospel advice, with much gospel encouragement. Features an extra checklist to help implement this book in your day-to-day lives.

You can also purchase this as an audiobook here, on audible,* on SCRIBD, and wherever audiobooks are sold.

What People Are Saying:

"Good book to read annually, or even every six months." -Jonah

"A great place to start if you are new to Doug Wilson or like books that are sharp and snappy. To the point, humorous and wise advice on marriage ... and how to not be the pill in your own one." -Sara

"This is a very practical book. But this doesn’t mean that it deals with sin issues in marriage in a superficial or simplistic way. Pastor Wilson believes through and through in the power of the gospel: repent and believe because all sins can be forgiven in Christ. And this book is about dealing with sin in marriage with the gospel. Decluttering Your Marriage is a challenging and helpful book, that at first will not spark joy in your life. It will make you uncomfortable, it will force you to look into your own heart and repent of your own sin before doing the next thing. But, oh boy, the joy, the true joy that doesn’t fade away like a spark that flies up in the air and then disappears, will for sure invade your heart and home if you put all effort to declutter your marriage starting with your own sins." -Becky

"This is a very, very good little book." -Jason

Fantastic - must read

This book is three years of counseling in a very concise, clear, palatable read that brings hope into what may seem like a hopeless marriage. Even if your spouse won’t read it- this can change your marriage.

This book decluttered my recommended books on marriage

Short. Concise. Immediately helpful.
Your marriage matters too much to endlessly read platitudes you know so well already. If your looking for help, which is why you are reading this review, just order this and follow its principles.

Confess your sins. Keep short accounts. Who doesn’t need to be reminded to do that?
Keep the good stuff coming, Mr. Wilson.

Good marriage-starting advice!

I listened to this on audio quite a while ago and realized how helpful (and eye-opening) it would have been to me as a newlywed 36 years ago. So I bought this copy for a newly married couple.

This book is about marriage. But it's mostly about confessing sin, and why that is the center of Christian marriage. I was incredibly convicted and challenged by this book. Confession of sin is so important, and we all do it so poorly.
