I read the original novel when it was released, sometime in the 1980's. It was one of the first "real" novels I had read, and I loved it. I purchased this as something to have on my coffee table for me and guests to pick up and read a few pages while relaxing. This beautiful version exceeded every expectation. The artist did an amazing job bringing the story to life.
My husband is reading Watership Down to the boys almost every evening before bed. Sometimes it's almost an hour before they stop.
Most of our nine children grew up reading this book and watching an animated version I found. Most of them read the book in one sitting and were pleased how accurately it followed the original. It was fun for me to gift my adult kids with a memory.
A very Excellent story with incredible art to follow the narrative. I have not yet read the original, but I want to now.
