Being a pastor's wife isn't the least bit about wearing fancy hats and attending church potlucks. It means helping a man who gets more complaints than any other and cleans up more messes than any other.

Look Inside the Book or Listen on Canon+

Being a Pastor's wife means a lot of suffering and heartbreak, in addition to all the frustrations of normal life. You can see Nancy Wilson's thirty years of experience most clearly in how she reacts to the difficult stuff—the stuff that can make you (especially if you're married to a pastor) feel inadequate and under-qualified.

True Companion offers friendly, practical, and above all Christ-centered wisdom on how to help your husband in his vocation, how to deal with the "congregation at home" (kids), how much (or how little) a pastor's wife needs to be involved in the church, what sins tend to spring up in a pastor's home, how to deal with adversity from enemies (or from friends), and a host of other issues.

What People Are Saying:

"This is a book I wish I had when I first married a pastor around the same time as Nancy did. And it is a book that I will be handing out to many future pastor's wives that pass through this seminary town. I pray and joyfully expect this book to bear much fruit in many marriages, homes, and churches for the glory of the gospel and advance of His kingdom." -Carolyn Mahaney, pastor's wife, mother, speaker, co-author of Feminine Appeal, and editor-in-chief of girltalk, a blog focusing on biblical womanhood

Nancy Wilson has been a pastor's wife and homemaker in Moscow, Idaho for more than thirty years. She is the author of a number of books including The Fruit of Her Hands, Building Her House, and Praise Her in the Gates, and a regular contributor to feminagirls.com. She and her husband Douglas have three children and seventeen grandchildren, which makes for some crazy Sabbath dinners.

Wounds that heal

I was very encouraged and convicted by True Companion. I am not a "pastor's wife", my husband and I lead a youth small group and have other positions in the church. Nancy Wilson has a way of speaking really hard truths in a way that only feels like love even when it's painful to accept. I had to confront a few faulty thought processes in myself after reading this book. I also ordered a few for pastor's wives I know who I think would be blessed by the encouragement and freedom from "church expectations" Nancy gives to pastor's wives in this book. I think any Christian wife would be blessed by the wisdom and insights in True Companion.

Excellent

Terrific book. I read it before giving it to my niece who is about to marry. He intends to be a youth pastor. I found helpful insights for my own marriage to a white collar businessman.
